Nails, Needles Removed From Sri Lankan Maid
In Saudi Arabia, a domestic worker has been physically abused by nails. The family for which she worked for tortured her. The 50-year-old from Sri Lanka had a total of 23 red-hot nails rammed into her flesh – every time she complained of working conditions.
When she recently returned to Sri Lanka, she had severe pain throughout her body and trouble walking. She was brought to the family physician, and this week they operated on her body, pulling 19 of the nails out. The last five sitting however were not removed, as it could risk serious nerve damage.

This is what LT Ariyawathi to a Sri Lankan newspaper. She is unable to go into detail about the pain she endured, and news sources claim it is due to her being severely traumatized. Some of the nails were reportedly about 5 inches long.
The case is now pending at a Sri Lankan police station who will investigate the situation further.
More than 2 million Sri Lankan workers are abroad, most of them working as domestic servants in the Middle East. Many have complained of physical abuse and harassment. This site documents many on a weekly basis.
In this particular case, the maid says the nails were hammered into her while they were hot. Her plight was only discovered after she traveled home and was taken to see a doctor, and later required surgery to have the items removed.
According to Arab News, the medical report has now been received by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Saudi Arabia, and a video statement translated into Arabic has been handed into the Saudi Embassy in Colombo.
Condemning it as an inhumane act on an innocent worker, Kingsley Ranawaka, chairman of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE), said that the Saudi authorities should wake up regarding such human rights violations.

This is everywhere in the whole Gulf region. This is not an isolated incident. There are reports of this kind of torture or even worse, death from Lebanon, Kuwait, Saudi, etc etc etc…name any arab country and you will hear countless stories from hapless women who go to these barbaric nations to earn $100, yes one hundred US dollars a MONTH to feed their families back in 3rd world countries. This is what they get in return. Slavery! If they try to speak, then they will be tortured, maimed or even murdered. When will Israel bomb the hell out of these barbaric ALLAH Dog’s countries ???? Can’t wait!
Islam is a false religion. It survives by deceiving its adherents. It is clear that more than a billion hapless people have been fooled and over the last 1400 years another billion has been deceived into believing that salvation comes from Islam. The devil is behind Islam. There is nothing that anyone can do to save these people. We can only pray that God will somehow bring those he has chosen from among the Muslims, into his kingdom. I despair for the millions of Muslims who are lost; especially the very young. They are in bondage to their immams, who are the servants and agents of the devil. In this day and age, the devil causes Muslims to practice extreme cruelty, even among their own. It is a hopelessly hopeless predicament and the worst form of punishment to be born a Muslim. That in itself is punishment enough for their cruelties to other human beings. I don’t need to mention 911.

In the absence of our Govt’s doing their due work ..Is there a way to sort of “name & shame” these identified serious inhumane humans?. Nowadays there are independent web sites that can be dedicated in identifying these culprits (if it is not legally possible to reveal names, can go upto the suburb, street number, work/business place etc).
I am ashamed to share the same race “homo-sapiens” with these grislys so I should have the freedom of denouncing this same species right to these “GRISLY..S” & evict them from same species status in a similar thing to that of “Apprehended Violence Order”. See more below:

Nearly 350 Sri Lankan housemaids are in a jail in Saudi Arabia waiting for the help of authorities to go home, a Sri Lankan worker said.
The housemaids, most of whom have fled their masters in Saudi Arabia as a result of physical and sexual abuse, the worker told BBC Sandeshaya from Olaya Security camp in the capital Riyadh.
“Some were physically abused, beaten, not give food for a long time. Some were not paid for years and there are pregnant women who have been sexually abused,” the detained worker said.
this is absolutley anyone does not want to hear.. people who does those are humans??? think everyone will die one day. help each other without doing human rights violations.

Kudos to the writer for bringing this up! it is incredibly important that incidents like these aren’t forgotten and are brought to attention internationally!
But I’m seriously shocked not just by the article but by the comments…i never thought I’d read such ignorance on Mideast Youth, a blog that brings about some of the brightest minds out there, only to attrach some of the most ignorant commentators.
When a crime is committed in America-say a rape, or a child being chopped up into pieces and thrown into a freezer by her own mother, etc. we blame the person who committed the crime.
But hark! Did i hear right? Did the crime happen in a predominantly Muslim country?
Whelp, that’s it then-off with their heads! and let’s have Israel blow up those Allah worshippers bc clearly Islam made them do this.

i know many mix between an act by a Muslim and Islam , what we want to make people understand from this heartbreaking incidence is that we need better laws to protect Foreign workers in gulf area because years of cheap labor and class community system made some people act in non humanitarian way with the help staff
as for trying to present any incident as Muslims are monsters ,then we may have to review history and see each nation actions and try to reflect that to their religion
Islam like Judaism and Christianity is a religion that had positive sides and other sides that need reforming
but if we deiced to act to Islam with no tolerance and understanding and try to talk and make reason than we are no better than radical groups
i hope we can through Mideast sit to work harder on helping poor people who just want to work in getting better treatment
and by the way bad treatment to Foreign workers is something that happens in west too ,they may not hit you by nails but they had their ways in making you feel hurt morally and psychologically
