Iranian journalist is accused of being "the enemy of God"

A court in Tehran issued on Saturday charges of being “the enemy of God” to the Iranian journalist and human rights activist shiva Nizar Ahari (26 years), the charges may lead to the death sentence according to her lawyer said.

According to the French news agency, quoting the Iranian news agency ILNA, lawyer Mohammad Sharif “was tried as an enemy of God and conspired to national security and spreading propaganda against the system and the breach of security.”

Sheriff said this session is the last before the verdict, but said he was “not pessimistic” about the court rule to be issued.

shiva Nazar Ahari (born 1984) is a notable Iranian human rights defender and a member of the Committee of Human Rights Reporters. specializing in child labor and the defense of political prisoners, and a former editor and current spokesperson for the Committee of Human Rights Reporters. She is also a journalist, blogger, and member of the One Million Signatures Campaign and Tara Women’s Association. Formerly a civil engineering graduate student, Ahari was expelled from university as a result of her student activism
She has been arrested several times by the Islamic regime of Iran for defending human rights. The last time was 14 June 2009 and she was held in Evin prison until September 23, 2009 when she was released on an equivalent of a $200,000 bail She was in solitary confinement for 33 days. On December 21, 2009 she was arrested once again while traveling to the funeral ofGrand Ayatollah Hossein Ali Montazeri along with several other activists, Once more held in solitary confinement, she has now been charged with three crimes: Assembly and Collusion to commit a crime, Propagating against the Regime and “Moharebeh” (enmity with god).
According to her mother, the accusations accuse her of “causing unease in the public mind through writing on the CHRR’s website and other sites” and “acting against national security by participating in demonstrations”.
Shiva denies attending the demonstrations, saying that she was at work on those days.
