Description: Miriam, or Mimi Asnes was born in Watertown, Massachusetts as a third-generation Bostonian and still calls the red and white house that she grew up in "home." She finds it useful to have such a familiar place to return to when traveling to far-flung locations like Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Israel, and Syria. Miriam spent a year in Cairo and a year in Nazareth, Israel before moving back to the United States in September 2006; she currently works for Obama for America in Minnesota's Iron Range and translates from Arabic and Hebrew.
