Comment Policy

Some people think they have a PhD in freedom of speech, insisting that it includes racist and hateful remarks. Perhaps that’s true, but by this logic, incompetent mustached dictators have the “right” to practice their freedom of speech by banning ours. We therefore expect you to make more sense.

Here’s a list of things to keep in mind while commenting:

Racist comments

We don’t like racism. It’s unhealthy. Find a cure.

Personal attacks

If you disagree with an opinion expressed in one of the articles, please refute the arguments politely. Attack the argument, not the person who expressed it.

Irrelevance

It is normal for a thread to meander in different directions when it gets lengthy, but if you’ve been asked to stay on topic, please do so.

Personal threats

Threatening comments, specifically ones that reveal an anonymous blogger’s identity, will be deleted without hesitation.

Anonymous comments

Anonymous comments that are overly negative towards a particular author are subject to moderation/deletion without explanation at the discretion of the moderators. This does not include constructive criticism or disagreements. Authenticated comments of this nature (personally-identifiable email address, blog URL, personal Facebook account, etc.) will not be moderated.

Please note: Sometimes, legitimate comments find their way to our spam filters. If your comment doesn’t appear right away, then this is most likely the case. Please inform us and we’ll de-spam it for you.

That’s it. Indeed, you won’t find Orwellian censorship on this website. Post thoughtfully, responsibly, and try to be as understanding as possible. We all have different experiences. You don’t need to resort to name-calling and insults to prove the worth of your opinions.
