Some people think they have a PhD in freedom of speech, insisting that it includes racist and hateful remarks. Perhaps that’s true, but by this logic, incompetent mustached dictators of heavily bombed Middle Eastern nations have the “right” to practice their freedom of speech by wishing death upon their “enemies,” which pretty much includes everybody. In a way it’s unwittingly funny. But we expect you to be more creative. Here’s a list of things to keep in mind while commenting:

1) We don’t like racism. It’s unhealthy. Find a cure.

2) If you disagree with an opinion expressed in one of the articles, please refute the arguments politely. Attack the argument, not the person who expressed it.

3) It is normal for a thread to meander in different directions when it gets lengthy, but if you’ve been asked to stay on topic, please do so. If you continue to hijack the thread, your comments may be moderated. This is part of our effort to prevent people from spamming.

4) Foul language. Many of us are young, and that means we like to swear. But we don’t do it excessively, and neither should you.

5) Threatening comments will be deleted, mostly due to the fact that the people who make them try to be funny or scary and fail miserably at either attempts. Zzzzz.

Please note: Sometimes, legitimate comments find their way to our spam filters. If your comment doesn’t appear right away, then this is most likely the case. Please inform us and we’ll de-spam it for you.

That’s it. Indeed, you won’t find Orwellian censorship on this website. Post thoughtfully, responsibly, and try to be as understanding as possible. We all have different opinions depending on our cultural, political, and religious backgrounds. You don’t have to resort to name-calling and insults to prove the worth of your opinions.
