The upcoming film Finding Bibi follows filmmaker Bita Haidarian, a girl who knows more about MTV than Al Jazeera, as she smashes worldwide stereotypes about women in the Middle East. The overwhelming trailer response has inspired us to build an organization around the movie. Our goal: to bridge the gap between east and west by sharing the compelling stories of women - some empowered, others seeking empowerment - from both regions. So how can you help? For now, by checking out our blog below and sharing your thoughts.
The Finding Bibi Movement
We need your voices to make Finding Bibi–a film about rebellion and identity–into a movement. Fans voted to select our first project: empowering young girls by recruiting them to report on their regions and to share their stories with the world. Now we need to build the resources to transform that stellar idea into a reality.
More than anything, we need you to spread the word. Fan us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter, subscribe to blog posts, then share it all with your friends. We also want to hear your side of the story – what is inspiring you, pissing you off, making you laugh – about straddling two cultures, about being a woman seeking empowerment or a guy trying to make things right. Want to help even more? You can also donate to help us become an official nonprofit.

As the Oscars slowly fade as news this week, we’re sharing a selection of clips and trailers from films made by women. A special thanks to Women Make Movies and the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis for featuring the good work that female filmmakers do and for posting these clips.
