Becoming a Reporter! In case you forgot, “Becoming a Reporter” was submitted early and went something like this:
My first by-line made me feel much more confident, even when people told me it wouldn’t be a money-making job. You should recruit some women in troubled regions to report on the status of women in their village, and get those reports published somewhere important.
Finding Bibi would work to establish relationships with communications and media companies and organizations to implement this project. Participants would report on the status of women in their region either in writing or using handheld video cameras (provided by Finding Bibi or its partners). In addition to the videos serving as education and advocacy materials, Finding Bibi would strive to have the content aired on major networks or on public media outlets throughout the world.
In doing so, the reports not only raise awareness of the specific case of each reporter and her region’s struggles, but would also empower other women in similar situations to speak their minds and teach the world.
Over the next few months, we’ll be working to rename the project and to turn it from an awesome concept into an impactful reality, empowering women from east and west to share their stories with the world. We’ll also be putting together the film and becoming an official nonprofit. Of course, we’ll need your help now that we know our project more than ever.
